I received a call from VICE Magazine. They were hosting a 9 hours video challenge in Berlin and they had seen my work – They wanted to know if I would be interested in assembling a team for the event. My initial thought was to gather the best damn team I could consisting of the best DOP, actors and prop people I know.

I was talking to my friend, and fellow animator, Mette Ilene Holmriis about the project, and while we spoke, her boyfriend, Ian, kept insisting on being the lead actor in it. He normally works as a producer, and I had a hard time imagining him acting. But at the end of the day I realized that I rather wanted to spend a day with a team of all my best friends instead of the A-team I had first envisioned. – And as it turned out; best team ever!

My friends Henrik Sjorslev (sounddesigner) and Martin Olesen (teacher and hobby photographer) came down from Denmark and joined myself, Peter Ruschel (vfx supervisor), Mette Ilene Holmriis (animator) and Ian Otto (producer & leading man) and a bunch of theater blood, raw meat, home made slime and a sock puppet for a pretty insane day of shooting.

Is it a good movie? I dont know. Probably not, but it literally is the most fun I have had shooting anything in a VERY long time. Everyone covered in blood, slime, goo, fake shit from a can and raw meat. We were literally flat out laughing the entire day. It really rekindled my love for being physical with the work – and for the spontaneous creative process! We should all do more like this. I sure as heck know I will…
